Daniel Girard will participate as a panelist and a moderator at the Duke Law Center for Judicial Studies’ Class Action Settlement Conference in Washington DC on July 23-24, 2015. This invitation-only conference draws judges, attorneys, and law professors from across the country to discuss proposed amendments to Rule 23. The conference is part of the Bench-Bar-Academy Distinguished Lawyers’ Series, which seeks to identify issues relevant to the practicing bar and to effect practical law reform. Mr. Girard will serve on two panels, covering the topics of class action settlement criteria and ancillary issues, including cy pres awards, the ascertainability standard, notice, and Rule 68. Fellow panelists include US District Court Judge Lee Rosenthal and attorneys Charles Casper and Kenneth Wexler.
