According to recent reports, executives at Carnival were unprepared or unwilling to take adequate measures for coronavirus infection control despite being aware of substantial risks to passengers and crew. A Bloomberg Businessweek article reports that Carnival did not properly screen passengers on the Grand Princess for symptoms of COVID-19, and that the company took almost two days to alert passengers of potential exposure on the Diamond Princess. Outbreaks on at least six more of the company’s cruise ships have resulted in more than 1,500 positive infections and at least 39 fatalities.
Girard Sharp is investigating these reports and the potential legal claims of those exposed to COVID-19 while on a Carnival cruise ship.
