More Details on the 2021 Ford Expedition and 2021 Lincoln Navigator Fire Risk
On May 19, 2022, Ford Motor Company issued a recall on over 39,000 vehicles after multiple consumer reports of under-hood fires occurring despite the vehicle being parked with the engine turned off. The reports included at least one incident in which an individual was injured.
The recall identifies Expedition and Navigator SUVs in the United States built between December 1, 2020, and April 30, 2021.
Ford has encouraged owners of these models to park the vehicles outside and away from homes or structures, but has not yet identified the cause of the alleged defect. There is currently no remedy in place.
