LG Refrigerator Class Action Lawsuit
Girard Sharp filed a class action lawsuit against LG on behalf of US consumers who purchased LG refrigerators equipped with linear compressors. These refrigerators are reported to be defective, resulting in failure of the refrigerator’s linear compressor, which renders the LG refrigerators unable to perform their most basic function: cooling and preserving food and beverages. Although refrigerators should last 13 years on average, the LG refrigerators have been failing within 36 months.
Plaintiffs allege that LG has known about the defect since 2014, and that despite its knowledge of the compressor defect, LG has sold and continues to sell these refrigerators without alerting purchasers to the problem.
Furthermore, when consumers have made warranty claims for malfunctioning refrigerators, instead of replacing them with working units or offering refunds, LG instead attempted futile repairs or replaced defective compressors with other defective compressors, resulting in repeated refrigerator failures for many.
